Perfectly integrated in close partnership
TransN relies on state-of-the-art passenger information in the new R22 line vehicles
DiLoc®|OnBoard
transN, Transports publics neuchâtelois, is the public transport company of the canton of Neuchâtel. With around 560 employees, transN carries more than 28 million passengers each year. Founded in 1857 (2012), the company has continuously developed and today unites trains, buses, trolleybuses, and funiculars under one brand. It operates both standard- and metre-gauge railways and is also responsible for infrastructure management on several lines.
Our
Challenge
transN faced the challenge of equipping new vehicles on line R22 with a modern passenger information system. The aim was to provide passengers with reliable, consistent, and real-time updates on timetables, connections, and potential disruptions. The key challenge was to seamlessly integrate different technical components – from displays and audio to CCTV and passenger intercoms. At the same time, the system needed to be future-proof, supporting timetable imports and vehicle sharing with partners in neighboring networks.
Our
Solution

To elevate onboard passenger communications, transN opted to integrate DiLoc®|OnBoard as their mobile onboard system. OnBoard links vehicle hardware components — such as displays, audio equipment, HMI (touch interfaces), CCTV and passenger intercoms — with the control center. Via the open MPI interface, timetable data, operational changes, and diagnostics are sent and returned in real time. Software updates are transmitted wirelessly without vehicle downtime. The result: a highly networked, reliable platform in the vehicle that enables real-time information and modular expansion.
